Readora Troubleshooting Guide
Quick diagnostic solutions for common document viewing, storage permission, and performance issues.
Document Fails to Open or App Shows 'Invalid File'
Underlying Cause: The PDF file may have been partially downloaded, corrupted during transfer, or renamed with an incorrect file extension.
- Check your download manager to ensure the PDF finished downloading completely.
- Try opening the PDF in another app to verify if the file itself is intact.
- Re-download or request a fresh copy of the document.
PDF Files Stored on Device Are Not Visible in Readora
Underlying Cause: Android storage permissions may be disabled or files are stored in an app-isolated private folder.
- Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > Readora > Permissions > Storage and select 'Allow'.
- If your files were received in an app like WhatsApp, ensure they have been saved or moved to your device's public 'Documents' or 'Downloads' folder.
- Restart the app to trigger a local file system rescan.
Keyword Search Returns 0 Results for Text You Can See
Underlying Cause: The document is likely a scanned photo or image-based PDF without an underlying digital text layer (OCR).
- Readora searches embedded digital text streams. If the document is a scanned image, text cannot be selected or searched.
- Use an OCR conversion tool or NVIN Scanner to convert and create searchable documents if OCR processing is required.
Page Stutter or Sluggishness on Extremely Large Files
Underlying Cause: Large blueprint drawings, architectural renderings, or 500+ page books can strain device RAM on budget smartphones.
- Close background applications running on your smartphone to free up physical RAM.
- Allow Readora 2-3 seconds to cache the initial raster buffer when first loading very heavy pages.
- Ensure your device has at least 15% free internal storage for OS swap memory.
If you encounter an unhandled exception or an edge-case PDF rendering bug, send the file details (or a redacted sample) along with your Android OS version and device model to:
